After the merger, Gia Lai province currently has 181 mineral exploitation licenses still in effect. Mineral exploitation enterprises mostly comply with regulations on exploitation and environmental protection. Many enterprises have invested in processing plants, increased mineral value and promoted local socio-economic development.
The licensing of material mines serving key projects basically meets the progress requirements, especially the project to invest in building runway No. 2 of Phu Cat Airport, North-South Expressway and North-South Expressway. Monitoring camera systems have been installed at exploited mines, contributing to tightening mineral management.
However, through review, there is still a situation of mining in the wrong volume, data not matching tax declaration documents, posing a risk of resource loss and budget revenue loss.

In some localities, mineral management is still lax, and the situation of illegal exploitation has not been promptly handled; there are still signs of shirking and avoiding responsibility. The application of technology in mineral management is still formalistic and ineffective.
Faced with this situation, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh - Standing Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee - requested departments, branches, and localities to urgently rectify and transform the management thinking of mineral activities from "administrative management" to "substantial management", strictly controlling the entire process from input, exploitation, transportation to consumption.
Take management efficiency, combat resource loss, and combat budget revenue loss as a measure; tighten discipline and order, and enhance the responsibility of heads," Mr. Thanh emphasized.
According to Mr. Thanh, the commune level is the "frontline" force, directly responsible to the Provincial People's Committee in mineral management in the area. Localities must prevent and thoroughly handle violations right from the time they arise, not allowing hotspots to form.
Strictly prohibit avoidance and shirking responsibility. Do not cite reasons such as not grasping the situation, lack of forces, and lack of authority to justify lax management in the locality," Mr. Thanh requested.
For project investors, the Standing Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee requested to proactively identify material sources right from the investment preparation stage, not to be passive or lack materials during the implementation process, especially for key and urgent projects.
Organize strict inspection and supervision from the stage of determining reserves, exploitation, transportation to use; resolutely not accept minerals of unclear legal origin.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment is assigned to review all mineral exploitation licenses. From there, classify, proceed to revoke, terminate, suspend, fine, not extend,... for mines that are slow to carry out land procedures, delay financial obligations or have violations in the process of operation.
