Traditional combinations C00, A00 gradually disappear, universities answer the reason
In the 2026 admission season, many universities are expected to remove traditional combinations such as C00 and A00 in many training majors, causing many students to worry about admission opportunities. Some large schools such as the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-Hanoi), Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance have announced adjustments to admission combinations, replacing them with new and more flexible combinations, associated with the 2018 General Education Program.
Schools explain that reducing or removing blocks C00, A00 is to meet the new requirements of the labor market and integration trends, in which foreign language proficiency, especially English, is increasingly important. The adjustment is also in line with the policy of making English the second language in schools in the period 2026-2030. Many schools aim to increase the proportion of subjects taught in English and expand combinations with English, Math or Literature as the foundation.
Representatives of training institutions affirmed that changing admission combinations does not reduce candidates' chances but on the contrary, expands choices thanks to the diversity of combinations and admission methods. Some schools still calculate combinations with History, Geography or allow replacing English with international certificates, creating conditions for students studying social sciences to access university opportunities in the context of renewed admissions. Teachers correct exam papers because they are worried that students will be subjective because high scores are unreasonable
Nguyen Van Cu Elementary School (Gia Lai) is taking disciplinary action against Ms. T.T.K.N - an English teacher for arbitrarily correcting the semester I test of many students.
The school has organized a review to clarify the purpose and extent of violations, as a basis for handling according to regulations. Ms. N. explained that the correction of the lesson was to avoid students being subjective because they achieved high scores, not related to extra classes. However, the leaders of Gia Lai Department of Education and Training said that this reason is unreasonable, because the score must reflect the actual ability of students, and teachers must not arbitrarily intervene.
Regarding parents' reflections on signs of systematic correction of lessons and suspicions related to extra classes, the education sector is continuing to verify. Currently, 19 parents of grades 3C and 4B are reflecting the incident, the school has temporarily suspended teaching for Ms. N. to serve the investigation, clarification and handling according to regulations.
