Having not found a room for the whole week, new students are worried about rising rental prices
In early September, many new students studying in Hanoi had difficulty finding a room to rent due to high rental prices and limited supply. Many students have to spend many days searching but still have not found a suitable place. Many rooms are small, with limited amenities but high prices beyond their affordability, forcing students to consider living away from school or finding someone to live with to reduce costs.

The survey shows that rental room prices around universities have increased sharply compared to last month. In Cau Giay, closed 20m2 rooms cost 2.9 - 3.5 million VND/month, mini apartments of 25m2 with full amenities cost up to 6.5 million VND/month. In Khuong Dinh ward, small rooms of 15m2 cost from 1.5 - 2 million VND, while spacious and fully equipped rooms can cost from 3.8 million VND/month.
The landlord said that every time students enter school, the demand skyrockets, causing many boarding houses to be full after only a few days. In addition, many students choose to hire a broker to save time, leading to costs being pushed up, in some places over 4 million VND/month. This situation makes finding a room at the beginning of the school year a big concern for many new students. See more...
