In the 2026-2027 school year, Son La province has 376,057 students and preschoolers, including 78,480 preschoolers, 134,436 primary school students, 117,068 secondary school students and 46,073 high school students and continuing education students.
Along with welcoming students back to school, the Son La education sector continues to arrange and streamline the school network. After arrangement, the whole province still has 406 public educational institutions, a decrease of 186 units, equivalent to 31%.
The arrangement also contributes to streamlining the apparatus, reducing 441 management officials and 27 employees, improving the efficiency of management and human resource use in the education sector.

At Chieng Son High School, Mr. Do Duy Chien, the school principal, said that 719 students from 16 classes have returned to school. In the early days, the school focused on guiding students to receive uniforms, elect classmates, study regulations and prepare necessary conditions for the new school year opening ceremony.
At To Hieu Primary School, Ms. Le Nhu Quynh, a parent with a child in grade 1A2, shared that the first day of bringing her child to school was a very emotional experience. The children were introduced to the classroom, learned the regulations; parents also participated in meetings to best prepare for the new school year.
The bustling school opening atmosphere at schools is opening a new school year with many expectations, when teachers and students are ready to stabilize their routines and embark on a new learning journey.
