In more than 2 months, the 2025 high school graduation exam will officially begin, after which students will register their wishes to be admitted to the desired majors and schools.
At this time, schools are also organizing many admission consulting programs to support students in choosing their upcoming major and career.
Nguyen Tuan Anh, a 12th grade student in District 5, said that he did not know which major or school he would be admitted to despite participating in the first round of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam. Tuan Anh plans to continue to register for the V-SAT exam and assess the professional capacity of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.
"I take the exam first, get the results and then calculate later, because I don't know which major or school to study," Tuan Anh said.
Thai Ngoc Tuong Minh, a 12th grade student in Thu Duc City, said that he will register to study International Business at Foreign Trade University (HCMC).
"This is my favorite major, I have decided to study it since grade 10. I will also register to apply for this major at other schools to be sure of my admission," Tuong Minh shared.
Dr. Mai Duc Toan - Director of the Admissions - Communications Center, Gia Dinh University said that at this time, universities are stepping up career counseling, introducing careers, training programs and orienting candidates on how to choose a suitable major.
According to Dr. Mai Duc Toan, students should listen to good advice from schools. Visit the official websites of universities, this is the most accurate and reliable source of information. If they have the conditions, they should go directly to the school to visit, listen to teachers' advice, and visualize the future learning environment better.
In addition, to increase the chance of being admitted in choosing a school, candidates need to choose the most suitable school, suitable for their abilities and strengths as the top priority. And in such a school, one to three majors should only be chosen, especially these majors and must be related to each other.
Dr. Toan emphasized that choosing a major is very important because it will directly affect the learning process and job opportunities later. If you choose incorrectly, it will not only take time and money but also risk graduating and not finding a suitable job.
"Everyone wants to have a stable job with a good income, so consider carefully to choose the right major, the right profession according to their abilities and interests.
Don't let yourself be influenced by other people's orientations while ignoring your own interests and strengths. You are the one who understands yourself best, no one can decide for you," said Dr. Mai Duc Toan.
