Running on the show to take separate exams, tired from extra classes
Planning to apply for admission to Marketing or Finance - Banking, but not knowing specifically which school will apply for admission, Nguyen Dang Khoa, a 12th grade student in District 1, simultaneously registered for both the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam and the University's Computer-Sat (V-SAT) entrance exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City Banking University.
"I learned that there are many schools training in the above two majors, but in addition to the general admission score based on high school graduation exam scores, each school has a different method. Some schools consider the competency assessment test scores but do not consider the V-SAT results and vice versa. Therefore, to increase the chance of being admitted, I can register for both exams, because registration is quite easy, just pay the fee and it's done" - Dang Khoa said.
Taking many exams at the same time, Dang Khoa said that many times he was exhausted, because the study schedule was more dense, when he took 3 extra classes (Math, Physics, Chemistry) with 6 sessions per week from Monday to Friday, he also took extra classes online to prepare for the competency assessment exam and V-SAT.
Nguyen Khanh Vy, a 12th grade student in District 3, set a target of a high school graduation exam score of 25 points or more and 950 points for the competency assessment of Ho Chi Minh City National University. The pressure of having to achieve high scores in both exams caused Khanh Vy to fall into a state of prolonged stress. Khanh Vy confided: There are nights when I stay up until 2-3 am to review for fear of being left behind by other classmates, even though I have to take extra classes until 9pm that night to go home. I was afraid that if I failed an exam, all my efforts would be meaningless.
Khanh Vy believes that taking an additional competency assessment exam will increase the chance of admission to a favorite school when taking each high school graduation exam.
Choose a suitable separate exam
Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thien Phuc - Vice Principal of the University of Technology (VNU-HCM) - said that taking additional exams outside of the high school graduation exam is necessary for candidates.
However, he said that candidates need to consider and see which profession or school they love, then find out which industry or school they are admitted to and register to participate in to meet the requirements of the schools.
Dr. Mai Duc Toan - Director of the Admissions - Communications Center of Gia Dinh University - said that the use of many admission methods has been an admission trend in many universities in recent years. However, he believes that students should not participate in too many competitions because this will take time, money and pressure.
"Children should only participate in a maximum of 3 admission methods, which can refer to the admission information of the school they want to apply for. Choosing a separate exam is to increase the chance of admission, however, candidates need to clearly identify that students who are admitted to many schools will only study directly at one school, so they must consider carefully" - Dr. Mai Duc Toan said.
