Previously, the Department of Education and Training (DET) of Ho Chi Minh City announced additional enrollment quotas for 37 public high schools in Area 1 for the 2025-2026 school year.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, additional admissions are to create conditions for students with good learning abilities but their choice of aspirations is not suitable and increase opportunities for candidates who miss all three aspirations.

Completing the procedures for registering for additional admission to grade 10 for his son at Trung Lap High School, Mr. Duong Thanh Thuy (Tan An Hoi commune) breathed a sigh of relief because he had completed submitting the application for additional admission for his son.
In the previous admission round, Mr. Thuy's son only registered 2 wishes and both were not admitted, causing the family to worry.
"The family was eagerly waiting for this additional admission period. When they learned that Trung Lap High School was recruiting more than 200 students and that their child's exam scores were also qualified, the family quickly completed the procedures and went to the school to submit the application," Mr. Thuy shared.
Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa (Binh Dong Ward) said that he had submitted an additional application for admission to Nguyen Van Linh High School. "When I submitted my application, the teachers at the school said that there were only about 20 students submitting their applications, so my child's chances of being admitted are very high," said Mr. Hoa.
According to the list of 37 additional high schools announced, Trung Lap High School has the highest demand for additional admissions with 262 targets. Next are Phong Phu High School recruiting 207 students; Nguyen Van Tang High School recruiting 181 students, Da Phuoc High School recruiting 169 students, Ngo Gia Tu High School recruiting 150 students. The remaining schools recruited from 15-100 quotas.
Notably, among the additional admission schools, there are also some schools with high admission scores, such as: Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School admitted 68 more students, Nguyen Thuong Hien High School admitted 80 more students, Phu Nhuan High School admitted 20 more students...
To participate in additional admission, students must meet the following conditions: have passed the entrance exam for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year in Area 1 of Ho Chi Minh City and have not passed any entrance exam for public high schools, with a total entrance exam score of 3 subjects: Math, Literature, Foreign Language and priority and encouragement scores (if any) greater than or equal to the 1 standard wish point of the public high school that wishes to register for admission.
Students who need additional admission will submit their application directly to a high school that is lacking quotas (not allowed to change schools when they have submitted their application).
The documents include a report on the results of the 10th entrance exam issued by the secondary school where the student registered for the exam.
In case the number of successful candidates exceeds the remaining quota (due to many candidates having the same score), the school's admission council will adjust the number of successful candidates in the spirit of the number of successful candidates not exceeding the assigned quota.
The Department of Education and Training notes that schools do not accept students exceeding the enrollment quota.
Cases exceeding the admission quota will not be resolved; candidates will not be accepted for additional admission after 4:00 p.m. on August 11. Candidates participating in the admission must have their names on the exam management system of the Department of Education and Training.
The Admissions Council must be responsible for additional admission conditions and ensure valid documents.
On August 8, schools will announce the list of candidates who are eligible for additional admission, and at the same time organize the reception of candidates.
