The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) said that in the 2025-2026 school year, the whole city has 169,602 9th grade students completing the secondary education program.
This year, the total number of students registered to participate in the 10th grade public high school entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year is 151,269 candidates. During the enrollment registration process, the whole city recorded 45,263 turns of aspiration adjustments in phase 2.
The 10th grade high school entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year in Ho Chi Minh City will take place on June 1 and 2. 2026. Candidates take 3 subjects including Literature, Mathematics and Foreign Language 1.
For candidates registering for specialized or integrated classes, they will take an additional specialized or integrated subject exam according to regulations.
According to the Department, this year the city has 1,515 students eligible for direct admission to 10th grade according to regulations. Including 100 students eligible for direct admission due to national-level sports achievements, 3 ethnic minority students and 1,412 disabled students.
To serve the exam, the Department of Education and Training has planned 242 10th grade high school entrance exam sites for the 2026-2027 school year, including 226 regular exam sites and 16 specialized exam sites.
The whole city has 6,443 exam rooms, including 5,914 regular exam rooms and 529 specialized exam rooms. At each exam site, at least 3 alternate exam rooms are arranged to handle arising situations according to regulations.
It is expected that the city will mobilize about 17,742 officials and teachers to participate in the exam supervision and service of the exam. At the same time, staff, security, police, medical, electricity, technicians and other support forces are also fully arranged to ensure the exam takes place safely, seriously and in accordance with regulations.
