HUE - During the historic flood, Associate Professor, Dr. Doan Duc Luong directly directed the opening of doors to welcome students and helped students transport relief goods to people in flooded areas.

Warm hearts in the rain and flood

In the last days of October and early November 2025, the historic flood caused many areas in Hue City to be deeply flooded, some places exceeding the flood mark of 1999. The water rose rapidly, causing power outages and water shortages, causing many difficulties for people and students renting accommodation.

In that situation, the University of Law, Hue University has become a safe support for hundreds of students and people in low-lying areas.

Although the house was flooded more than 1m, Associate Professor, Dr. Doan Duc Luong ( Principal of Hue University of Law) crossed the flood to school, directed the opening of classrooms D and E to welcome people and students to avoid the flood, charge equipment and rest temporarily (three days 27 - 29.10). Officials and lecturers are on duty 24/7 at school gates and lectures to support, guide and arrange safe accommodation.

Not only opening shelters, the school also coordinated with the canteen to prepare free meals of egg and shrimp pasta, sausage, and hot sticky rice. The simple but timely meals helped students and the people to relieve some of the difficulties during the big water day.

Therefore, within its capacity, the school has discussed and decided to open a support door, creating accommodation for all those who need to be evacuated to school, especially students far from home, Associate Professor, Dr. Doan Duc Luong shared.

Supporting students, staff and the community after the flood

Associate Professor, Dr. Doan Duc Luong, said that the school always prioritizes ensuring the safety of students and the community, while implementing many support policies after the flood. Students in the affected system are supported with VND 300,000/person along with necessities; cases of families with heavy damage are considered for special support. For officials and workers, the school supported 500,000 VND/person for flooded houses and 1 million VND/person for severe property damage.

In early November, when the damage caused by storms and floods was clearly revealed, especially in Hoa Chau and Kim Tra wards, the school organized the program "Supporting students in flooded areas".

On the afternoon of November 11, 2025, the working group led by Associate Professor, Dr. Doan Duc Luong directly visited the damaged schools to present support funds with a total amount of 100 million VND, including: Hoa Chau High School 30 million VND; Huong Toan 1 Primary School (Kim Tra Ward) 40 million VND; Thuan Hoa 1 Primary School (Hoa Chau Ward) 30 million VND.

The series of activities to support students, provide relief to people and accompany schools in flooded areas has strongly spread the spirit of "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves", affirming the social responsibility of the University of Law, Hue University - a school of humanity, affection and always towards the community in the most difficult times.
