According to the draft on the 10th grade enrollment plan for 2025-2026, which is being consulted by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City from districts, towns, and Departments of Education and Training, this year students will be allowed to register a maximum of 8 wishes when taking the 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City, including 3 regular 10th grade wishes; 2 specialized 10th grade wishes and 3 integrated 10th grade wishes.
According to annual practice, in April, the department will announce the enrollment quota for each public high school. After that, 9th graders will enter the wish registration stage.
Mr. Cao Duc Khoa - Principal of Huynh Khuong Ninh Secondary School (District 1) said that the school is waiting for the department to announce the enrollment quotas of each public high school, then there will be instructions for students and parents in registering wishes.
However, the school will instruct students and parents to register their wishes based on factors such as academic performance, schools near home and the wishes of students and parents.
In which, accurate assessment of academic capacity will play the most important role. The school recommends that parents and students consult with teachers of Math, Literature and Foreign Language.
"Students can register according to their wishes to enter the school they want based on consultation with the subject teachers. Wishing 2 to register according to their academic ability and wish 3 to register to the school to ensure solid tuition at public high schools. In which, we refer to the additional benchmark scores of previous years, ensuring the gap between the wishes 1, 2 and 3 from 1.5 to 2 points", Mr. Khoa said.
Similarly, Ms. Anh Thu - a 9th grade homeroom teacher in Thu Duc City, said that the most important thing when registering for a wish is to choose a school that meets your learning ability.
"Parents and students must evaluate their academic performance correctly, avoiding the possibility of being only admitted to top 2 schools but choosing to enter top schools," said this teacher.
At the same time, Ms. Anh Thu added that students should not register their wishes for the same group of schools (the standard scores of the previous year were almost the same) because they could miss all 3 wishes.
According to the draft, this year the 10th grade admission exam will be conducted in 2 forms: admission and entrance exam.
In which, the entrance exam is conducted in 2 phases.
Phase 1: students register for 3 priority options 1, 2, 3 to take the entrance exam to grade 10 public high schools (except for Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, Ho Chi Minh City National University for Energy.
Phase 2: Depending on the actual situation of the application set at high schools and the needs of high schools, the Department of Education and Training decides on additional enrollment and has documents guiding the implementation to ensure the rights of candidates, on the basis of enrolling enough enrollment quotas for schools that still lack many quotas.
Students are not allowed to change their prospects after the time allowed to adjust their prospects and after the admission results.
Candidates take 3 essay exams including Math, Literature, 120 minutes/subject, Foreign Language (Foreign Language 1 is being studied at school) with a test time of 90 minutes.
