HCMC - In the past year, the benchmark scores for grade 10 specialized subjects fluctuated strongly, including specialized subjects that decreased by more than 4 points.

According to the roadmap, from the 2025-2026 school year, Ho Chi Minh City will stop organizing specialized classes in 4 high schools, including: Gia Dinh (Binh Thanh District), Mac Dinh Chi (District 6), Nguyen Thuong Hien (Tan Binh District), Nguyen Huu Huan (Thu Duc City). Specialized classes are only held at 2 schools, Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted.

In the past year, the benchmark scores of specialized classes at Le Hong Phong and Tran Dai Nghia specialized schools have recorded strong fluctuations.

Accordingly, in 2024, the English major class of project 5695 of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted had the highest benchmark score of 37.5 points (first year of enrollment).

The lowest benchmark is the History class of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, which takes 24.75 points, on average, candidates only need to achieve about 5 points per subject to be admitted.

At Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, there are 5 specialized classes with standard increase scores. Of which, the IT major class increased the most with 3.25 points; followed by the Literature major with 1.5 points; the English major increased by 1.25 points; the two Math and French classes increased by 0.25 points.

On the contrary, there were 7 classes with the highest reduction in points, the Business major class with 4 points; History major with 3 points; Geography and Chinese major with 2.5 points reduced; Japanese major with 2.25 points reduced; Chemistry and Literature major with 2 and 1.5 points respectively.

At Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, there are 4 classes with increased scores. In which, the IT class increased by 2 points; Physics increased by 1.5 points; English and Math increased by 0.25 points.

The three specialized classes with reduced scores include Biology, reduced by 4.25 points; Literature, reduced by 3 points and Chemistry, reduced by 1.75 points.

In 2025, according to the draft on the 10th grade enrollment plan being consulted by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City before submitting it to the City People's Committee for approval.

Both Le Hong Phong and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted are allowed to receive candidates who have passed the junior high school exam from other provinces and cities, provided that these candidates fully meet the requirements according to the current regulations of the exam. In previous years, only Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted recruited 10th grade nationwide.

Students who register for the specialized exam have 2 prospects for priority admission to the specialized class. Arrange in order of priority from high to low (expectation 1, 2), if admitted to any profession, you must study at that profession, without changing the profession.

For the specialized exam, candidates will take 4 self-processing exams including 3 non-professional exams including Math, Literature, Foreign Language and 1 specialized exam in the correct subject registered for the exam (150 minutes of test time).

The total admission score for the specialized class is: Literature + Foreign Language + Math + (specialty x 2).

If they are not admitted to specialized schools, students can still participate in the 10th grade entrance exam according to the 3 conditions that are usually registered for the entrance exam.
