Minh Anh, a new graduate from the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University), hopes to receive a starting salary of 9-10 million VND/month.
According to Minh Anh, the above salary is suitable for the current trend, not too high and not too low, enough to cover living expenses in Ho Chi Minh City.
"I know that businesses often have a set salary for inexperienced students who have just graduated, so at this time I am not too concerned about the salary. I think that after a while of working, if I do well, the business will raise my salary," Minh Anh said.
My Duyen, a senior student at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University), aims to earn about 12-13 million VND/month.
"I have also researched and found out that the starting salary in many businesses is not too high, but I believe in my own ability, because since my second year I have been collaborating and working in a number of business units. I have just graduated but I already have more than 2 years of experience," My Duyen shared.
Ms. Tran Le Bao Van - Director of an enterprise in the field of electronic equipment in Ho Chi Minh City said that the salary of 8-12 million VND/month is the common level that many enterprises offer to new graduates.
"For new graduates, our company does not evaluate or require experience but always creates opportunities for them to work. After 1-2 years, if they do well, the company is willing to pay a higher salary and vice versa, if they do not complete the assigned work, they will still receive the starting salary or may even consider terminating the labor contract," Ms. Van shared.
At the graduation ceremony on November 22 of the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University), Mr. Vo Dai Khoi - Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Young Entrepreneurs Association advised that new graduates should find a suitable working environment to accumulate experience, develop themselves in the first 3-5 years and not focus too much on salary.
"The salary you receive today is just the beginning. That salary will not starve you nor will it make you rich. I hope you dare to take on difficult tasks and don't say you can't do it, but say you want to do it," Mr. Khoi advised.
Mr. Khoi said that if you are a good and valuable person, opportunities will come to you. You should not worry about whether your salary is enough to live on, but ask yourself if you are good enough. Because businesses are always looking for good people.
"Salary is just a price, it does not evaluate our personality. Do not choose a job because of the high salary, but choose a working environment and a job that makes you happy," Mr. Khoi emphasized.
