On May 14, information from the Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) of Nghe An province said that the 10th grade enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year, due to a sudden increase in the number of students, the education sector has implemented many measures to reduce enrollment pressure and create more learning opportunities for students.
Accordingly, the number of 9th grade students in the 2025-2026 school year will reach more than 57,000, an increase of more than 10,000 compared to the previous school year. Faced with this situation, the education sector has advised the People's Committee of Nghe An province to approve an increase in enrollment quotas for public high schools, especially in the Vinh City area (old).

Specifically, Ha Huy Tap High School enrolls 1,200 students (25 classes, an increase of 75 quotas); Le Viet Thuat High School enrolls 1,200 students, the number of students increased from 45 to 48 students/class; Huynh Thuc Khang High School enrolls 1,200 students, an increase of 390 quotas compared to the previous year. Suburban schools such as Nguyen Duy Trinh, Thai Lao, Nghi Loc 3 also have increased classes.
Before parents' concerns about quality when increasing the number of students, many schools have proactively expanded their facilities. Le Viet Thuat High School takes the facility of Vinh Vocational Secondary School, ready to teach two shifts with the motto "running and queuing".
Ha Huy Tap High School is repairing facility 2 at Vinh City Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center, planning to arrange 7-10 classes right from the new school year.
According to Decision No. 4650/UBND-TH dated April 29, 2026 of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, the education sector is urgently completing procedures to transfer Hermann Gmeiner Vinh High School from semi-public to public. The school has 67 full-time teachers, 13 contract teachers, facilities are ready, and is expected to enroll 720 10th grade students (an increase of 45 compared to the initial plan). This is equivalent to adding one more public school right in the center of Vinh City.
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa - Director of Nghe An Department of Education and Training - emphasized: "Increasing targets, expanding facilities, and transforming the school model are specific solutions to ensure learning opportunities for students. However, the most important thing is still the efforts of the students and the companionship of parents. We are committed to creating the best conditions for the exam to take place safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An province, this year's 10th grade entrance exam includes 3 subjects: Literature, Mathematics (essay, 120 minutes) and Foreign Language (multiple choice, 60 minutes).
The exam schedule is on May 25-26, 2026 (9 days earlier than the previous year). The whole province is expected to have 53,000 candidates taking the exam, arranging 75 exam sites with more than 2,168 exam rooms.
