Adding motivation to students
In July 2026, the Gia Lai Provincial People's Council of the XIII term, its 5th session, passed Resolution No. 85/2026/NQ-HĐND stipulating policies to support preschool children, students, and pupils in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the province.
Preparing to enter the new school year 2026-2027, commune authorities are implementing and soon bringing the Resolution into life so that students have more conditions to study and improve their lives.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuyen - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of Son Lang Commune People's Committee, Gia Lai said: "The commune area is mainly ethnic minorities, people living around the buffer zone of Kon Ka Kinh National Park. Many households have difficult and deprived lives; schools are many kilometers away from villages.
Therefore, Resolution 85 with mechanisms and policies to support students shows a humane spirit, suitable to reality. Support funds will create more motivation and belief for students to feel secure in going to school to study and live, and lighting up the light of knowledge.
According to Resolution 85, children are supported with 160,000 VND/child/month for food; food support for boarding students is 700,000 VND/student/month.
Supporting boarding students who are ethnic minorities permanently residing in particularly difficult communes and villages who are studying vocational colleges and intermediate vocational schools with a scholarship level of 1,900,000 VND/month; the amount of money to buy personal belongings once is 1,000,000 VND/course and travel expenses from the studying place to the family and vice versa is 200,000 VND/year.
Improve the quality of education in mountainous areas
Mr. Siu Luynh - Secretary of the Party Committee of Ia Dok commune, Gia Lai said: "As soon as Resolution No. 85 was passed, the commune government organized the implementation, prepared estimates, reviewed, and ensured the right beneficiaries.
These funds and support regimes are necessary and valuable for disadvantaged students to continue going to school to learn to read, so that in the future they will become a knowledgeable and high-quality workforce, returning to build their homeland.
Along with many other policies such as the National Target Program on building new rural areas, sustainable poverty reduction, vocational training for workers, Resolution No. 85 adds fuel to the fire, nurturing the spirit of learning and accessing knowledge for students in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. Thereby, contributing to improving the quality of education and training, and socio-economic development of each locality.
Mr. Nguyen Van Long - Deputy Director of Gia Lai Department of Education and Training - affirmed: "With estimated funding supporting over 160 billion VND for the new school year 2026-2027, Resolution 85 will go into practical life, contributing to further improving the results of education, teaching and learning in the area".
The Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee agreed in principle to adjust the enrollment targets for boarding and semi-boarding students for the 2026-2027 school year for 7 border school districts. Accordingly, the total enrollment target after adjustment is 6,818 students.
The construction of inter-level boarding schools in border communes is a humane policy, with long-term strategic significance, contributing to improving the quality of education in remote and isolated areas, ethnic minority areas; and at the same time strengthening national defense and security, building a solid "people's heart formation".
