From the Olympic gold medal to the dream of becoming a doctor
Winning the Outstanding Young Faces of Vietnam Award in 2024, Nguyen Huu Tien Hung - a first-year student at Hanoi Medical University is an example worth studying.
Before winning this award, Tien Hung had won many other prestigious awards such as the Gold Medal of the 2024 International Chemistry Olympiad, the Gold Medal of the 2023 Asian Chemistry Olympiad... In addition, Tien Hung had joined the Party and received the Second Class Labor Medal.
I was admitted to the Party on June 3, 2024, when I was still a student at Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted. This is also the final stage to prepare for the International Chemistry Olympic exam. Therefore, the luggage I bring to the competition not only has knowledge but is also the responsibility of a young person, a Party member - Tien Hung laughed.
The goal to be given top priority during his studies is perseverance, which has helped Tien Hung overcome many difficulties and barriers.
During my entire learning process, my top priority has been perseverance. For me, passion is a prerequisite to start, but it is perseverance that helps me pursue to the end. Having a clear goal and perseverance has helped me not be distracted, always maintain a progressive spirit and constantly learn - Tien Hung confided.
Tien Hung's perseverance was proven when he was admitted to the Medical School of Hanoi Medical University. Becoming a doctor has been a dream of Hung since he was in elementary school - when he accidentally watched videos analyzing the human body and treating all kinds of diseases. That love was nurtured by the young student with all his efforts in studying, and then the sweet fruit came to Hung when he was admitted directly to the school.
Currently, after nearly a year of studying, I still maintain my passion, my biggest goal is to study well to accumulate knowledge, improve skills, gradually build a foundation of knowledge to become a good doctor, useful for the community in the future - Tien Hung said.
Sharing about the concept of lifelong learning, Tien Hung said, "lifelong learning" is not just a slogan, but a way of life. Especially for the medical industry - a profession that requires constant updating and improving knowledge, learning does not stop after graduation but lasts throughout the career.
I believe that lifelong learning is a way to adapt to the constant changes of the times, and at the same time a way to improve yourself - Tien Hung expressed.
Learning is not an obligation, it is an opportunity
Winning the Gold Medal of the 2024 Asia-Pacific Physics Olympic (APhO) and most recently the Outstanding Young Faces of Vietnam Award in 2024, Than The Cong - a student at Hanoi University of Science and Technology is a typical example of his constant study efforts.
The Cong said that he was a student with a not-so-excellent foundation. Cong's turning point came in 8th grade when he began to become more exposed to Physics. At first, I didnt like this subject because it had too many formulas that I didnt know how to apply to the exam. However, the teacher spent a lot of time and effort teaching me separately, helping me understand the nature of physics. That teacher also inspired me a lot in this subject - Cong confided.
During the preparation process for the exams, The Cong also had many worries and pressures. The student once felt discouraged when he was eliminated from the international Physics Olympic team in 2023. He also felt pressured when participating in the 2024 Asian Physics Olympic team selection competition.
I realized that studying is not an obligation, but an opportunity to explore, develop and master my future. The knowledge I learn every day will make me become more perfect than yesterday - Cong felt.
Despite achieving many achievements in learning, the public has never let himself "oversleep on victory". Cong always sets a higher goal in the field of new technology to continue urging himself to strive and develop continuously. Sharing the future orientation, The Cong said he wanted to become an engineer in the semiconductor technology. The student has applied for a scholarship to study in the US and Singapore with the desire to approach human knowledge and later have conditions to contribute to his homeland.
" Semiconductor technology and electronic chips are not only a profession that suits my abilities and interests, but also a social profession that I really need. The government is investing heavily in this field. I hope to bring the knowledge I have learned to contribute to the country's development in the future" - The Cong affirmed.
In the vibrant picture of the country, young people are no longer the "seeds" but are and will become solid trees, bringing a fresh life to the "roots" of the Fatherland. For young people, knowledge becomes a guide, light and belief for the nation's rising era.
