On the morning of July 1st, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the 2026 high school graduation exam scores of more than 1.2 million candidates.
Nguyen Le Yen Nhi (12B4 class, Le Thanh Tong Primary, Secondary and High School, Ho Chi Minh City) became one of the 4 valedictorians of the B00 combination (Math - Chemistry - Biology) with 30 absolute points.
Sharing with Lao Dong Newspaper, Yen Nhi could not hide her emotions when she learned that she was in the group of candidates with the highest scores in block B00.
At about 9 am, I checked scores with my family and was the first person to announce the results to my parents. "At that time, I was very surprised, even couldn't believe my eyes. I just thought I did well on the test, I didn't think I would get such a high score," Yen Nhi said.
According to the female student, this result far exceeded initial predictions. Yen Nhi is from Gia Lai, used to study block A (Math - Physics - Chemistry) in two years of 10th and 11th grade in her hometown. In 12th grade, she transferred to Ho Chi Minh City to study at Le Thanh Tong Primary, Secondary and High School and switched to the B00 combination due to her orientation towards medicine.
The transition process made me have to get used to it almost from the beginning, especially with Biology - a subject that does not have a solid foundation.
In the early stages of 12th grade, Yen Nhi faced many difficulties when she had to both catch up with the new program and adapt to the learning environment.
There were times when I felt I was lagging behind my friends, the most difficult thing was the feeling of doubting myself. But I tried to follow my teachers and learn again from the beginning," she shared.
Thanks to the support of teachers and a regular self-study plan, Yen Nhi gradually catches up with the program. Throughout the school year, she maintains a dense study schedule, almost full of days, combining classroom study, intensive study and self-study.
The female student's learning method focuses on firmly grasping basic knowledge in textbooks, then practicing questions to get used to the pressure of time. "I don't study scattered but focus on the foundation, then practice questions to get used to the type of question," Yen Nhi said.
Looking back at the journey of a year, Yen Nhi believes that the most important factor to achieve high results is self-confidence. "The most important thing is to believe in yourself. When you believe you can do it, you will have the motivation to try to the end," she shared.
Besides, she emphasized perseverance and not giving up in the learning environment transition phase.
With the achieved results, Yen Nhi plans to register for a medical major at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy - a direction she has identified since switching to block B00.
According to statistics, the 2026 high school graduation exam recorded 5 candidates achieving 30/30 points, including 4 candidates belonging to the B00 combination (Math - Chemistry - Biology) and 1 candidate belonging to the A00 combination (Math - Physics - Chemistry).
Among these, Le Thanh Tong Primary, Secondary and High School also has another B00 valedictorian, Dinh Ngoc Hai Lam (12B2 class), who also achieved 30 absolute points.
