On May 27, the Department of Education and Training of Gia Lai province said that it had reported to the Provincial People's Committee about the case of students being violently abused at Phan Boi Chau High School No. 1 (Bong Son ward).
Through verification, at about 8:35 am on May 20, in the schoolyard and classroom of class 10A3 of Phan Boi Chau High School No. 1, Nguyen Thi Quynh N. had acts of teasing Ho Trong H. during the "Knowledge Bus" extracurricular session at the school.
After the extracurricular session, H. hit female student N. in the head in the schoolyard. Annoyed, N. dragged H. into the classroom of class 10A3, and together with Tra M. beat H. and forced her to kneel down and apologize.
At the time of the incident, 6 10A3 students witnessed it but did not intervene, did not report to the teacher or the school. Some students also used their phones to film clips and spread them to many other students.
Female student N. herself also posted pictures of forcing H. to kneel and apologize on the social network TikTok.
According to the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Education and Training, the cause of the incident stemmed from students' teasing behavior, lack of skills to handle conflicts, leading to violent behavior. The related students had an inappropriate behavior towards their classmates.
The school has also not well implemented the work of moral education and school behavior culture, especially respecting and supporting disadvantaged students. The homeroom teacher of class 10A3 has not fully fulfilled the responsibility of managing students in extracurricular activities.
Regarding handling measures, violating students must self-criticize, publicly apologize, commit not to re-offend and self-assess the training results at an unfulfilled level.
The School's Emulation - Commendation and Discipline Council unanimously ranked the training results that were not achieved in the 2nd semester and the whole school year for violating students.
For H. - the student who was beaten, the school visited, encouraged, and supported to stabilize the psychology of the student and family after the incident.
The homeroom teacher of class 10A3 was disciplined for not managing and closely observing students during extracurricular hours, leading to slow detection of the incident and timely handling.
According to the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Education and Training, parents of violating students have realized the seriousness of the incident, directly apologized to the families of the victims, and committed to coordinating with the school in educating their children.
