On May 27, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee said that it had requested departments, branches, and localities to urgently rectify and accelerate the implementation of urgent solutions to strengthen flood drainage downstream of the Ha Thanh River.
Through actual inspection in some localities, the Provincial People's Committee found that the progress of implementing many tasks related to dyke management and flood drainage corridors is still slow.

In particular, the work of reviewing, counting, handling and clearing violations in the dike protection corridor and flood drainage corridor has not met the requirements for disaster prevention and control before this year's rainy and flood season.
Faced with the above situation, the Provincial People's Committee requested the People's Committees of Quy Nhon Bac, Quy Nhon Dong wards and Tuy Phuoc commune to urgently review and fully count households, works, architectural structures and other shortcomings within the protection corridor of the Cat River and Truong Uc River dikes and related flood drainage routes.
Localities must classify specifically according to the location, time of occurrence, nature of violations and level of impact on flow and flood drainage to propose appropriate handling plans.
Based on the review results, urgently mobilize, clear, and relocate cases of violations affecting the dike protection corridor and flood drainage. In case of non-compliance, handle according to regulations.
This is a key and urgent task to serve flood drainage and disaster prevention in 2026. Secretaries and chairmen of communes and wards must be responsible to the Provincial People's Committee if they are slow, lack decisiveness or allow new violations to arise, re-encroachment after handling," the leader of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee directed.
The province also requested Quy Nhon Dong ward to urgently review and fully statistically identify graves, architectural structures and other shortcomings within the flood drainage corridor and drainage axis of Quang Trung University area.
From there, organize to notify and mobilize related households and individuals to relocate; and at the same time develop a plan to handle, support, and arrange reburial places in accordance with regulations, ensuring the handover of land to serve the dredging of the drainage route before July...
Previously, in mid-November 2025, the historic flood caused many communes and wards downstream of the Ha Thanh River to be deeply flooded, causing heavy property damage and greatly affecting people's lives.
Urgent dredging and clearing the flow is considered an urgent solution to improve flood drainage capacity and limit widespread flooding in the upcoming rainy and storm season.
