Although it is almost the new school year, some parents reflect that they have to run through many bookstores, buying each book, but still do not have enough textbooks for their children before the new school year.
Regarding the supply of textbooks for the new school year, the Vietnam Education Publishing House (NXBGDVN) said that as of August 15, NXBGDVN and the distribution company system have completed the supply of 220 million copies of textbooks and 76 million copies of homework books and reference books to the market. Compared to the same period in 2025, the output of textbooks reached 148%, and homework books and reference books reached 119%.
In addition, 8 million copies of textbooks and 2 million copies of homework books are being urgently transferred, preparing to supply according to actual needs, ensuring that students do not lack books before the opening day.

Although the amount of printed and supplied books has exceeded many compared to the same period last year, some customers still face difficulties when buying retail books at stores at some times.
NXBGDVN explained that there are 6 objective reasons leading to the above situation.
First, the demand for additional purchases is increasing. Many parents have a habit of buying a second set of textbooks to keep in class for their children, helping students not have to carry heavy loads; or want to equip books early for their children to refer to before the school year, leading to a sudden increase in demand at retail stores in the period from late July to early August.
Second, not synchronized in the registration process at the school. Some schools have not centralized book ordering through publishing units of NXBGDVN to wait for free policies, causing students not to receive books from the school but to have to buy retail themselves, causing confusion and pressure on the retail system.
Third, lack of updated information on the use of textbooks for the 2026-2027 school year. Many parents are not updated accurately about the use of textbooks for the new school year, leading to not receiving textbooks with the "Connecting Knowledge with Life" logo. Even in some cases, even though they have bought them, they still insist on returning them because they mistakenly believe that the books cannot be used.
Fourth, not grasping information about online adjustment content. Some book titles have updated and adjusted content that has been announced and updated content posted on the taphuan. nxbgd. vn website (teachers, parents and students can access to grasp adjustment information of the book). However, due to not grasping this information, some customers resolutely refuse to buy books when they see information in printed books that has not been directly edited and printed.
Fifth, charity activities: Book donation programs for school libraries by many philanthropists and social organizations often purchase large quantities of textbooks at retail stores, unintentionally creating temporary scarcity at some points of sale.
Sixth, distribution channels outside the system: Customers may have difficulty finding books to buy at bookstores not belonging to the NXBGDVN system (because not every store imports textbooks for sale).
For convenience in equipping, updating and exploiting textbooks, NXBGDVN recommends that parents prioritize searching the official distribution system; use free electronic textbooks on the website taphuan. nxbgdvn. vn to proactively update knowledge, refer to content and serve learning and teaching work.
Parents can take advantage of old textbooks to practice thrift.
NXBGDVN will continue to closely follow the actual needs of each locality to coordinate books in a timely manner, ensuring that all students have enough textbooks before entering the new school year" - NXBGDVN informed.
