On September 3, at Tran Hung Dao Elementary School, Hong Gai ward, Quang Ninh city, the opening ceremony of the bus route to pick up and drop off students to school for the 2026 - 2027 school year was held in Ha Long, Hong Gai and Ha Tu wards.
Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Quan Minh Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Quang Ninh City; Mr. Bui Van Khang - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of Quang Ninh City People's Committee; representatives of departments, branches, schools, parents and students.
Electric buses picking up and dropping off students are specially designed by VinBus, serving the safe and convenient travel needs of students.
The car uses an environmentally friendly electric motor and a low floor design, making it easy for students to get up and down.
The electronic ticket system identifies each student to support journey management, and also integrates a vehicle inspection warning feature after each trip to limit the risk of neglecting students.
Vehicles are equipped with surveillance cameras, helping schools and operating units strengthen monitoring and ensure safety during pick-up and drop-off.
The school bus line has a capacity of 30 people, including 17 standing seats, 11 seats and one seat for wheelchair users, meeting the travel needs of students.
According to the plan, the service operated by VinBus includes 50 vehicles arranged on 6 main routes, serving students in Ha Long, Hong Gai and Ha Tu wards.
Official routes operate from September 5, mainly from Monday to Friday; some routes operate additionally on Saturday according to the announced schedule.
Previously, on August 25, 2026, at the 7th Session, the 15th Quang Ninh City People's Council passed a Resolution stipulating the policy of exempting bus fares for picking up and dropping off students to school in Ha Long, Hong Gai and Ha Tu wards in the 2026-2027 school year.
Accordingly, students studying at general education institutions in 3 wards when using school shuttle services by electric bus are supported 100% of the fare.
As of August 19, 1,728 students from 14 schools registered to use free electric buses.
