On September 4, in the area at the beginning of Vi Ba street (the road leading to the top of Big Mountain), Vung Tau ward (HCMC), a situation of wild monkeys biting injured people continued to occur.
Residents in the area said that the incident happened at about 9 am on July 4, an adult monkey (of the pig-tailed monkey breed) suddenly rushed into a residential area and attacked, injuring one person and losing a lot of blood.
People quickly took the victim for treatment and reported to functional agencies. Police and forest rangers quickly arrived at the scene. Although functional units organized to surround and arrest wild monkeys, it was unsuccessful.
Ms. T.T (a resident living in the area) said that the situation of wild monkeys biting people occurred at the end of January 2026, but has ended when functional agencies organized to surround and arrest many wild monkeys with aggressive signs. But it is not understood why it is happening again today.
This morning's monkey has many characteristics similar to the one that used to bite people before, such as a pig's tail, and a sunken head. I was once bitten by it, with a deep bite right in the blood vessels, so the blood sprayed out a lot and it was difficult to stop," Ms. T.T said.
Vung Tau Ward People's Committee said that after the monkey biting incidents occurred at the end of January 2026, the locality organized to surround and arrest many wild monkeys showing signs of ferocity and proceeded to hand them over and handle them according to regulations. The locality has also grasped information about the new incident and is conducting verification and handling.
