Ms. Nguyen Thi Van, from Buon Ma Thuot city (Dak Lak), has 2 children in elementary school. Due to difficult circumstances, at the beginning of this school year, Ms. Van had to find money to buy books, notebooks, school supplies, uniforms, shoes... for her children.
When she went to buy books, she noticed that on the cover of the textbook there were 2 prices (old price and new price).
Accordingly, each book gets a discount of several thousand VND depending on the book, some books even get a discount of up to 10,000 VND. According to Ms. Van, reducing the price of textbooks helps save some money to take care of her children before the new school year.
Actual surveys show that, at the Education Bookstore on Truong Chinh Street, Buon Ma Thuot City, textbooks are discounted.
For example, Math 1 book in the Creative Horizons series is reduced by 5,000 VND (from 28,000 VND to 23,000 VND); English book 1 - student book, reduced up to 10,000 VND (from 52,000 VND to 42,000 VND)...
Mr. Truong Van Bang - Director of Dak Lak Book - School Equipment Joint Stock Company - said that from April 2024, the unit will implement a book price reduction program. Each book has a different reduction, ranging from 1 - 19%, with an average reduction of 11%.
According to Mr. Bang, the reduction in textbook prices has made parents and students very excited. Because Dak Lak is a locality with 49 ethnic groups, many families have many children and difficulties.
Reducing book prices helps parents and students save money to buy more school supplies. According to statistics, in the new school year 2024 - 2025, Dak Lak School Equipment and Books Joint Stock Company imported more than 4 million copies of textbooks.
Currently, the books have been shipped to retailers in remote areas in the province.
