Pedagogical benchmarks are sky-high
For many years, pedagogical benchmarks have always been at a very high level. This shows the attractiveness of pedagogical majors and schools to candidates across the country.
In 2023, among teacher training schools, Hanoi University of Education 2 has the highest benchmark score for the History Pedagogy major in the country, up to 28.58. The standard score of this school's Literature Education major is also at 27.47 points.
The standard score at many pedagogical schools is also above 27 points (30 point scale). This means that candidates need to achieve an average of over 9 points per subject to have a chance of being admitted.
This year, with the early admission method, the pedagogical major of many schools continues to increase, nearly reaching the 30-point threshold.
Students are worried that they have not passed the exam with 28 points
Currently, most pedagogical schools set admission quotas using early admission methods. The remaining number of criteria based on high school graduation exam scores is not much, increasing competition for admission to schools.
For example, at Hanoi University of Education, the remaining criteria for the method of considering high school graduation exam scores in 2024 are quite few.
The field of Literature Education has a total target for admission combinations of 80, the field of Primary Education is 50. Some fields such as History Pedagogy, Physics Pedagogy, Chemistry Pedagogy... also have numbers. Targets can be counted on the fingers of one hand.
Other universities that train pedagogy such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Pedagogy, Saigon University, Hanoi University of Education 2... also have similar realities. That's why many candidates, even if they get high scores, are still worried that they won't be able to get into pedagogical schools.
With a score of 28 (C00 block) and 26.75 (D01 block), Ho Thi To Uyen - 12th grade student, Nguyen Van Troi High School (Ha Tinh) - is still worried about her chances of being admitted to her 1st choice. and my second wish, respectively, is Literature Pedagogy and Primary Education from Hanoi University of Education.
"Last year, the Literature Education major got the standard score of block C00 which was 27.83 (block C00) and 26.4 (block D01). The Primary Education major was even higher. My score is even higher than this score. "But I can't rest assured. Because this year, the scores of these two combinations are popular and the number of candidates entering pedagogical majors has increased, while the enrollment quota is limited" - she analyzed.

Even though I passed the early admission to many universities, I am still determined to take the 2024 high school graduation exam to be able to pass my first choice, which is to major in History Education at Ho Chi Minh City University of Pedagogy.
Having achieved a fairly high score - 28 points (block C00), Hong Thao is still not assured about her chances of being admitted.
"Last year, my 1st choice got 26.85 points. If the standard score remains stable or increases slightly, there is a possibility of passing. But I'm worried that the standard score will increase because this year's C00 score spectrum is slightly better than compared to last year" - Hong Thao said.
