On October 25, Ho Chi Minh City National University (VNU-HCM) held the opening ceremony for the year 2025.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai - Vice President of VNU-HCM - affirmed that the opening ceremony is not only a ceremony to open the school year but also a forum for knowledge, where generations of scientists, lecturers, and students share inspiration, arouse the desire to learn and serve society.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai said that VNU-HCM is strongly implementing the Development Strategy for the period 2021-2030, aiming to be in the top 100 universities in Asia by 2030, and further, the top 100 universities in the world.

"The 2025-2026 period will be the time to clearly demonstrate the aspiration for innovation of the entire system. The school plans to inaugurate the National University - University - University Innovation Center in early 2026, and at the same time coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City to build the city into an international-class innovation center by 2030, through the cooperation model of 3 houses: State - School - Enterprise", Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai shared.
Also at the ceremony, she sent teachers and students 3 phrases: dare to think differently - dare to fail - dare to do it again.
For students, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai advises them to dare to think about things further, learn from all over and be ready to accept challenges. According to her, the most valuable lesson is not success, but the ability to rise from failure.
With the team of lecturers, scientists and civil servants of VNU-HCM, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai hopes that each person will be an example in spreading the spirit of innovation, daring to think differently in research and teaching. "If teachers don't go, learners won't be able to go first," she emphasized.
The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Nguyen Thanh My - Chairman of the Board of Directors of My Lan Group, who inspired by sharing about the "success formula".

According to him, success comes from many key factors such as health, thinking, effort, knowledge, perseverance, opportunities, luck and circumstances. In which, health is considered the most important foundation, because "without health, you can't do anything".
In addition, he also suggested that students need to set clear goals, know what they want, then persevere in striving to the end and never give up.
