Artificial intelligence (AI) is being widely applied, creating many positive values, but using AI incorrectly and for the wrong purpose can cause users to change from being proactive to being passive and dependent.
In the educational environment, AI is being applied to both management, teaching and student learning.
MSc. Pham Thai Son - Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade assessed that AI has brought many changes in education, especially university education today.
There are currently many online learning platforms using AI such as Teams, Meets, Zoom, etc. that can provide tools to help students self-study, track their learning progress, and receive immediate feedback on their learning outcomes. In addition, AI also supports teachers in managing their classrooms more effectively, from automatic grading to analyzing student progress...
Therefore, the school strongly encourages students to use AI for studying, but also advises them not to overuse AI, especially prohibiting the use of AI to cheat on exams .
"When students do scientific research topics, graduation topics or course projects, we encourage them to use AI to search for information and process data, not to use it to write their thesis entirely with AI. Moreover, if students use AI, lecturers will also detect it because the sentences will be different from those written by learners," said Mr. Son.
Dr. Le Manh Hai - Head of the Faculty of Information Technology, Gia Dinh University, commented that AI is developing rapidly.
For example, students are now very fond of using the ChatGPT application to do their essays. This has caused schools to pay attention and come up with solutions to prevent students from abusing technology in their studies.
"The first measure we are applying is educating students, so that students know that AI is a product made by humans, it cannot be creative and if students want to be creative, they have to do it themselves.
In addition, we will also change the way we teach. Questions that require true or false answers will no longer be used, instead there will be questions that require students to answer logically, requiring argumentation. AI will not be able to do this," Dr. Le Manh Hai shared.
In addition, according to Dr. Le Manh Hai, the learning process of students now requires more creative exercises than right-wrong exercises, requiring students to think more and think more. This will limit students from abusing AI.
"I think AI is an achievement, using AI is not bad, if not used it will be a waste, but students will waste more time and money if they overuse AI, they will lose the opportunity to think and debate", said Dr. Le Manh Hai.
