With the desire to bring thinking assessment tests of developed countries in the world to Vietnamese students, in recent years, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has conducted research, designed and implemented the organization of Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA).
The goal of the TSA test is to assess three basic thinking skills of students, including: Mathematical Thinking, Reading Comprehension and Scientific Thinking/Problem Solving - important factors that help students learn best in a higher education environment.
The TSA exam is organized in a streamlined and efficient manner, applying advanced testing technologies, approaching modern thinking assessment exams in the world, such as SAT, ACT...
Accordingly, the total time of the test is 150 minutes for 3 test contents: Mathematical Thinking (60 minutes), Reading Comprehension (30 minutes) and Scientific Thinking/Problem Solving (60 minutes) with the test format being completely multiple choice on the computer. The test will be held many times a year, candidates will be granted a certificate of test results and can use it to apply to universities nationwide in need. The structure and content of the Thinking Assessment test will remain stable for many years to come.
In 2025, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will be the first institution to open a portal for candidates to register for a separate exam to obtain university admission results.
According to information announced by Hanoi National University of Education, in 2025, the results of the school's competency assessment test (SPT) will be used by 22 schools for admission; including 9 old schools and 13 new schools. 9 schools have used the results of the SPT competency assessment test from the previous year, including the universities: Hanoi National University of Education, Hanoi National University of Education 2, Ho Chi Minh City National University of Education and the pedagogical schools under: Thai Nguyen University, Hue University, Da Nang University, Quy Nhon University, Vinh University and Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
This year, the Hanoi National University of Education's competency assessment test will combine multiple-choice and essay questions with appropriate score ratios according to the structure of each test; assessing the level of understanding of core knowledge and the ability to argue, analyze, evaluate, solve problems and be creative. Candidates will take the test directly in the examination room, answering questions by filling in the multiple-choice answer sheet and writing on the test paper.
In 2025, the first batch of students will take the high school graduation exam according to the 2018 general education program. To adapt to this situation, Hanoi National University said that in addition to the original structure, the school also has some changes in the exam structure. Specifically, the HSA exam consists of 3 parts: mathematics and data processing (50 questions, 75 minutes); language - literature (50 questions, 60 minutes); science (50 questions, 60 minutes).
In particular, in 2025, the questions in the exam will not be arranged in order from easy to difficult but will be randomly shuffled according to a fixed matrix. The questions will exploit a variety of rich content in each field, requiring candidates to apply knowledge to make judgments and analyze problems.
