On November 18, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2024), and at the same time honored 14 outstanding teachers and awarded the 2024 Vo Truong Toan Award to 50 teachers who have made many contributions to the development of the city's education and training sector.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that in recent times, the city's education sector has achieved many great achievements, the quality of universal education at all levels has been maintained; there has been a positive shift in general education from mainly equipping knowledge to comprehensively developing learners' qualities and abilities; the teaching of information technology and foreign languages according to international standards has increasingly achieved effective quality...
“Along with the nobility and glory of the profession are many hardships, heavy responsibilities, challenges, and pressures. We are proud of teachers who are steadfast in upholding the fine traditions of teaching; teachers who quietly overcome difficulties, diligently work, study, practice, and contribute.
Each level of education has its own difficulties and hardships, but teachers have made constant efforts and creativity. Thanks to the persistent work and contributions of each individual teacher, the education and training sector of Ho Chi Minh City has continuously developed, maintaining its leading position in education and training nationwide" - Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu shared.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Le - Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council said that among the thousands of teachers who have been and are working in the city, each person has contributed in their own way to the cause of education and training.
Many teachers have overcome difficulties and become shining examples of morality, dedication, and sacrifice for their profession; some have devoted their youth, persistently and steadfastly, to working with students with disabilities.
"The city's leaders will continue to pay attention, closely direct and create all favorable conditions for education. In particular, recognizing and praising the contributions of teachers and educational managers is even more necessary, creating motivation for teachers to continue to contribute to training and fostering high-quality human resources for the locality and the country," Ms. Nguyen Thi Le emphasized.
Ms. Ngo Hong Hiep - Literature teacher at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School was honored to receive the Vo Truong Toan award this year and could not hide her joy and emotion.
Ms. Hiep said she never thought she could win this award because it is a very noble award for teachers.
"The award recognizes my dedication to my profession and is also a motivation for me to continue trying," Ms. Hiep shared.
