Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted was established on October 15, 1974 under the name of Gifted Boarding High School in Dien Thanh Commune, Dien Chau District on the basis of merging high school classes specializing in Literature and Mathematics studying at Do Luong II High School and Thanh Chuong I High School.
After 50 years of establishment and development, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted has made strong changes in all aspects. From 2 specialized Math and Literature classes in the early days, the school now has 15 specialized classes for each grade including: Math, Math 2, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, History, Geography, English 1, English 2, French, Russian, Chinese, Japanese.
From 2013 to 2024, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted had 1,010 students winning prizes in the National Excellent Student Competition, 49 times participating in regional and international competitions in all 5 subjects: Math, IT, Physics, Chemistry, Biology. Of which, there were 12 Gold Medals, 13 Silver Medals and 7 Bronze Medals. The school's university entrance exam results are constantly among the top in the country with many students passing as Valedictorians, Salutatorians...
In recognition of its outstanding achievements and great contributions, the school has been awarded many noble awards, including: Third-class Labor Medal (1994), Second-class Labor Medal (1999, 2023), First-class Labor Medal (2004), Third-class Independence Medal (2009), the title of Labor Hero (2013), and twice honored in the Vietnam Glory program (2007, 2013).
At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang - Politburo member, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics - awarded the Second Class Independence Medal on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the specialized system and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee - emphasized that the Second Class Independence Medal is a noble award that the Party and State recognize the great contributions of generations of cadres, teachers, students and schools over the past 50 years.
In the coming time, the Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee requested the school to continue to effectively implement major policies of the Party, State, Education sector and Nghe An province on fundamental and comprehensive innovation of the Education sector.
