On September 9, the President signed a decision to posthumously award the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal to Captain Nguyen Dinh Khiem - Captain of Company 3, Battalion 1, Brigade 513, Military Region 3, Ministry of National Defense - for his outstanding achievements in combat, combat service, and rescue missions, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
Previously, at 8:00 a.m. on September 7, 2024, following orders from his superiors, comrade Nguyen Dinh Khiem and his teammates mobilized to help the people of Dat village, Luc Hon commune, Binh Lieu district, Quang Ninh province respond to storm No. 3 ; during the mobilization to perform the task in the storm, he was hit by a fallen tree and seriously injured. His teammates took him to Binh Lieu District General Hospital for emergency treatment, but due to the seriousness of his injuries, he died at the hospital.
Comrade Nguyen Dinh Khiem sacrificed his life while on duty helping people prevent storm No. 3; he set a shining example of bravery and willingness to sacrifice to protect people's lives and property, contributing to beautifying the image and fine traditions of Uncle Ho's soldiers.
