On September 13, 2024, the President signed a decision to posthumously award the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal to Lieutenant Colonel Professional Soldier Tang Ba Hung for his outstanding and outstanding achievements in helping people overcome the consequences of storm No. 3, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
Previously, at 1:30 p.m. on September 11, 2024, following orders from his superiors, Lieutenant Colonel Tang Ba Hung and his teammates helped people in Truong Son town, An Lao district, Hai Phong city overcome the consequences of storm No. 3.
While trimming a fallen tree with his teammates and local residents, comrade Hung was electrocuted. His teammates and local residents performed first aid and took him to Kien An Hospital in Hai Phong City, but comrade Hung did not survive and died at the hospital.
Lieutenant colonel Tang Ba Hung (born in 1978), from Thanh Lang commune, Thanh Ha district, Hai Duong province, is a driver of Platoon 2, Company 1, Transport Brigade 653, Logistics Department of Military Region 3, Ministry of National Defence.
According to the Ministry of National Defence, comrade Tang Ba Hung sacrificed his life while performing his duty to help people overcome the consequences of storm No. 3; demonstrating his bravery and willingness to sacrifice to save people's lives and property, contributing to further enhancing the beautiful image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" and the Vietnam People's Army in the new situation.
