Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade plans to adjust school hours 10-30 minutes earlier than at present. Accordingly, the first shift in the morning will start from 6:30-9am 30 minutes earlier than the current regulation from 7am-9am15am; the second shift from 9:30-12am 10 minutes earlier than the old classroom from 9:40-11am55am...
In addition, the number of evening lessons is reduced from 5 to 4. According to the school, this contributes to optimizing study time, reducing traffic pressure, making it easier for students to move, especially during peak hours.
After this information, many students of the school expressed their disagreement because they thought that the morning class start was too early.
Thanh Minh, a third-year student, said that early school hours make students crammed, having to wake up earlier to have enough time to eat breakfast. "Not everyone is near the school, if they have a friend at 6:30 in the morning, they have to leave the house at 5:30", Thanh Minh shared.
Thao Linh said that ending the afternoon from 5:25 p.m. to 6 p.m. was too late. "The city is already congested, and 6pm is also during rush hour. If I am far away, I have to go home at 7pm," said the female student.
According to Mr. Pham Thai Son - Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, the adjustment of school hours aims to ensure the duration of each lesson is 50 minutes according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
However, because the adjustment of the time not only affects the long-standing familiar working hours of students but also affects the teachers' morning pick-up and drop-off of children, the school is still seeking opinions on this study time adjustment plan.
In Ho Chi Minh City, according to the regulations of the Department of Education and Training, kindergartens open from 6:30 a.m., pick up children from 7 a.m. to no later than 8 a.m. and pick up children from 4 p.m.
For high school, the first class in the morning starts at 7am, no later than 8am and ends no later than 10:30am. In the afternoon, the first class will not start before 1:00 p.m. and will not end later than bust:30 p.m., ending from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
