New schools in Ho Chi Minh City race day and night to be ready to welcome students

Many new schools in Ho Chi Minh City are accelerating the completion of facilities and consolidating the teaching staff to be ready to operate from the 2026-2027 school year.

Ho Chi Minh City is accelerating the completion of many new schools to meet the increasing learning needs of students, while reducing overload pressure at existing educational institutions before the 2026-2027 school year.

At Le Thi Rieng Primary, Secondary and High School (Thoi An ward) - a school established in 2026 on the basis of renovating the old District 12 People's Committee headquarters - the construction atmosphere these days is taking place urgently. Units are accelerating the progress of completing facilities to be ready to welcome students in the first school year.

Ms. Ngan My Linh, a parent whose child is preparing to enter 6th grade, said that although the project is still being completed, the family is very reassured when their child is studying in the new school.

I believe that the school and the city's education sector will create conditions for students to have a good learning environment and many memorable experiences," Ms. Linh shared.

Mr. Luong Van Minh - Principal of Le Thi Rieng Primary, Secondary and High School - said that the school is coordinating with relevant units to accelerate the construction progress.

The time fund is less than a month left, so units may have to work overtime, working day and night to complete the project in time before the school year," Mr. Minh said.

Right in the first school year, the school enrolls 18 classes including 10 grades 10, 4 grades 6 and 4 grades 1. Students will study 2 sessions/day and organize semi-boarding according to demand.

At Thoai Ngoc Hau High School (Tan Phu ward), renovated from the old Tan Phu District People's Committee headquarters, preparations for the new school year are also being implemented synchronously.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuy Phuong - Principal of the school - said that after receiving the ground for phase 3 at the end of July, the school coordinated with the construction unit to renovate classrooms, functional rooms and necessary items. The entire project is expected to be completed before August 31 to be put into use in time.

The biggest difficulty is converting the function from administrative headquarters to schools, so many spaces must be renovated to meet educational standards. However, with the direction of the Department of Education and Training and local authorities, the implementation process took place smoothly," Ms. Phuong said.

Previously, on May 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee decided to establish 5 more public schools directly under the Department of Education and Training, starting enrollment from the 2026-2027 school year, including: Le Thi Rieng Primary, Secondary and High School, Phan Van Hon High School, Thoai Ngoc Hau High School, Ha Huy Tap High School and Vo Nguyen Giap High School.

Putting new schools into operation is expected to supplement the supply of classrooms, contributing to meeting the learning needs of students and reducing pressure on existing schools.

Accelerate the progress of completing 1,000 classrooms before August 15th

To ensure the completion of the goal of the Emulation Campaign "150 days and nights to complete 1,000 classrooms to serve the 2026-2027 school year", the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested the Department of Education and Training, People's Committees of communes, wards and investors to urgently review all school projects under their management.

Units are required to focus all resources, increase human resources, equipment, organize reasonable construction, work overtime (if necessary) to accelerate progress, ensure project quality, complete acceptance, handover and put into use before August 15, 2026.
