According to the plan of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT), this year's supplementary enrollment for 10th grade has 3,488 targets at 79 public high schools. The time to receive applications is until the end of July 29.
The registration condition is that candidates have a total score of the 10th grade entrance exam equal to or higher than the nguyện vọng 1 benchmark score of the school they want to register for. Each student is only allowed to submit an application to one school and the admission consideration is carried out according to the principle of taking scores from high to low until the quota is filled.
Records at schools show that the number of applications submitted has a clear differentiation.
At Nguyen Van Linh High School, Mr. Nguyen Tan Si - Principal of the school - said that up to now, the school has received more than 100 applications, exceeding the assigned target.
The number of applications this year is slightly higher than last year. Most parents come to submit in the early days, in recent days it has not increased much. However, the deadline for receiving applications is still until tomorrow (July 29), after which the school will review and finalize the official number," Mr. Si said.
Similarly, Le Thi Hong Gam High School has also received more than 10 applications exceeding the recruitment target.
Mr. Vu Quoc Phong - Principal of the school - said that parents and students are fully guided on the conditions and principles of admission. Admission will be carried out in accordance with the regulations of the Department of Education and Training.
Meanwhile, many schools with high benchmark scores receive very few applications.
Mr. Do Dinh Dao - Principal of Nguyen Huu Tho High School said that the school is recruiting 11 additional targets because the first round has recruited almost enough. However, so far, only 4 applications have been received.
This situation has been going on for many years. The school's benchmark scores are quite high, so the number of candidates eligible to register is not large, so up to this point, they have not received enough applications," Mr. Dao said.
At Gia Dinh High School, Mr. Lam Trieu Nghi - Principal - said that the school has just recorded one candidate who is eligible to register for additional admission for 23 targets. However, this candidate has not yet completed his application.
Many parents have a mentality of waiting until close to the deadline to submit applications. The school has to wait until the receipt time is over to finalize the list to report to the Department. In previous years, due to the high benchmark score, the number of supplementary applications was also very small," Mr. Nghi said.
Representatives of another high school in the central area of Ho Chi Minh City also said that the school is recruiting nearly 30 targets but has not yet received enough applications.
Due to the high benchmark scores, the number of candidates eligible to register is not large. The school continues to receive applications according to the plan," this person said.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, among the 79 schools recruiting additionally this time, there are 10 schools recruiting from 100 quotas or more. The highest are Phong Phu High School (214 quotas), Nguyen Van Tang High School (199 quotas), Trung Lap High School (157 quotas), Vo Minh Duc High School (148 quotas), An Nhon Tay High School (145 quotas), Trinh Hoai Duc High School (129 quotas), An My High School (125 quotas), Bung Rieng High School (108 quotas), Nguyen Van Linh High School (100 quotas) and Da Phuoc High School (100 quotas).
In the opposite direction, many schools only recruit very few additional targets such as Vo Thi Sau High School (Dat Do) 2 targets, Minh Dam High School 3 targets, Hoa Hoi High School and Ngo Quyen High School (Nghia Thanh commune) with 7 targets each, Thanh Tuyen High School 8 targets, Le Thi Hong Gam High School and Nguyen Hue High School (Rach Dua ward) with 10 targets each.
According to the plan, the supplementary list of admitted students will be announced from August 3rd to no later than 4 pm on August 7th. At the same time, schools will organize the reception of admitted students.
