Supplementary enrollment for 10th grade in Ho Chi Minh City: Many schools accept applications for a total of 3 subjects with 9 points

Chân Phúc |

Ho Chi Minh City - The admission score for supplementary admissions to 79 public high schools ranges from 9-23.5 points, creating more opportunities for many students who have not been admitted.

On July 22, 79 public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City simultaneously started receiving applications for additional 10th grade enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year. This is an opportunity for candidates who were not admitted to any aspirations in the recent 10th grade entrance exam but still have a need to study at public schools.

According to the plan of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT), the supplementary enrollment has 3,488 quotas at 79 public high schools. Candidates are only allowed to register for admission to only one school, provided that the total score of the 10th grade entrance exam is equal to or higher than the first-choice benchmark score of the registered school. Schools will consider admissions from high to low until the quota is filled.

The announced list shows that the average score for receiving supplementary admissions has a fairly clear differentiation, ranging from 9 to 23.5 points, a difference of up to 14.5 points between the school with the highest and lowest thresholds.

Notably, more than half of the supplementary schools have admission scores below 15 points, showing that the opportunity to continue studying in public schools is still quite wide for many candidates who have not been admitted in the first round. However, the opportunity is not even between schools when the group of schools with enrollment attraction still maintains the admission threshold from 20 points or more.

In the lowest score group, there are 7 high schools receiving applications from 9 points, including Nguyen Hue (Phuoc Thanh commune), Nguyen Van Cu (Xuan Son commune), Hac Dich, Phuoc Buu, Hoa Binh, Bung Rieng and Vo Nguyen Giap. With this score level, on average, candidates achieving about 3 points per exam subject have met the conditions to submit applications for admission.

In addition, many other high schools also receive applications from 10-12 points, such as Binh Khanh, Nguyen Trai (Ngai Giao commune), Ngo Quyen (Nghia Thanh commune), Tay Son, Nguyen Binh Khiem, Hoa Hoi, Minh Dam, Phuoc Kien, Phuoc Hoa, An Nhon Tay, Phuoc Vinh... Most of the schools in this group are located in suburban areas.

Meanwhile, the group of schools with application thresholds from 20 points or higher only includes 9 schools, concentrated in schools that have been attractive for enrollment for many years.

Leading is Gia Dinh High School with 23.5 points, followed by Tay Thanh and Trinh Hoai Duc with 23.25 points. Trung Vuong, Le Trong Tan and Vung Tau schools also receive applications from 21.75 points; Hung Vuong (Cho Lon ward) is 21 points, Ten Lo Man is 20.5 points and Vo Minh Duc is 20 points.

Not only is there a difference in application scores, the scale of supplementary admissions between schools is also very different.

Of the 79 schools, 10 schools recruited 100 or more places, including Phong Phu (214 places), Nguyen Van Tang (199), Trung Lap (157), Vo Minh Duc (148), An Nhon Tay (145), Trinh Hoai Duc (129), An My (125), Bung Rieng (108), Nguyen Van Linh (100) and Da Phuoc (100).

In the opposite direction, some schools only recruit very few additional students, such as Vo Thi Sau (Dat Do) with only 2 quotas, Minh Dam with 3 quotas, Hoa Hoi and Ngo Quyen (Nghia Thanh commune) with 7 quotas each, Thanh Tuyen with 8 quotas, Le Thi Hong Gam, Nguyen Hue (Rach Dua ward) with 10 quotas.

According to the plan of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the time to receive supplementary admission applications takes place from July 22 to the end of July 29.

After completing the application process, schools will consider admissions according to the principle of taking scores from high to low until the quota is met. Therefore, the announced score level is currently a condition for submitting applications, not the final admission score.
