On the afternoon of August 23, the People's Committee of Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi held a dialogue with parents about issues related to enrollment for the 2024 - 2025 school year.
Previously, on August 21, hundreds of people flocked to Tay Mo 3 Primary School, waiting all day to apply for admission. They were upset because they believed that despite living right next to the school and having household registration, their children were not admitted and they did not know the enrollment information.
Opening the dialogue with parents, Ms. Do Thi Thuy Ha - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Tu Liem District said that they had received 520 applications from parents for their children to study at Tay Mo 3 Primary School and affirmed: "The parents' wishes are legitimate and appropriate."
"The task of the local government is to be responsible for ensuring the rights of students living and studying in the area," Ms. Ha said.
However, according to Ms. Ha, this reception cannot be resolved immediately due to procedural obstacles.
"The enrollment quota and enrollment time are regulated by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and have ended. Additional wishes and quotas after the enrollment period need to be reported and consulted with the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.
Additionally, we need time to review the facilities and teaching staff at educational institutions in the area to ensure the best learning quality for students before accepting them" - Ms. Ha explained.
The leadership of the People's Committee of Nam Tu Liem District said they would try to analyze each parent's case to evaluate and come up with suitable solutions, creating favorable conditions for students and parents. The official announcement will be sent to parents on August 27, 2024.
According to the report sent to the People's Committee of Nam Tu Liem District, the district's Department of Education and Training said that the parents present at Tay Mo 3 Primary School belong to three main groups.
The first group consists of those with children in grades 2-5 from nearby schools applying to transfer to the new school. According to a preliminary survey, the number of students from Ly Nam De Primary School alone is 233.
The second group consists of families from other provinces or districts who have recently moved to live in the urban area of Nam Tu Liem District.
The third group consists of parents with children entering grade 1 but did not submit applications during the recent initial enrollment period (a few parents had submitted applications to other schools but wanted to transfer to Tay Mo 3 once it became operational).
Tay Mo 3 Primary School is a public school that was separated from Tay Mo Primary School. The new school is for students in grades 2-5 and newly enrolls grade 1 students from groups (from group 7 to 12) and ungrouped buildings in the Smart City urban area, Tay Mo Ward.
