Regarding the case of PennSchool school on Ba Thang Hai street suddenly stopping operations on the day students return to school, Hoa Hung ward said that schools in the area are still capable of receiving all more than 400 students at this facility.
Talking to Lao Dong reporters, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung, Head of the Culture and Social Department of Hoa Hung ward, said: "Hoa Hung ward ensures enough places to study for children, the important thing is the choice of parents and the school's agreement," Mr. Trung affirmed.
According to Mr. Trung, the locality has exchanged with schools in the area, requesting proactive support if parents have a need to transfer their children to another school.
We have discussed with schools in the ward, if parents contact us, we will proactively support, grasp information and try to receive it so that parents are assured. If there is overload, we can consider the option of opening more classes," Mr. Trung said.
PennSchool system also has a facility on Tran Binh Trong street, expected to receive about 400 students. Whether students continue to study at the system or transfer to another school will depend on the needs, choices of parents and agreements with the school.
Ms. Nga, a parent whose child is studying at PennSchool campus on Ba Thang Hai street, said that her family has decided to withdraw the application and transfer her child to another school near her house for convenient pick-up and drop-off and to help her child soon stabilize their studies.
According to Ms. Nga, the family realizes that arranging students needs more time. While the new school year is about to begin, the family wants to have a specific plan for their children soon.
I think the school needs time to arrange, it cannot be resolved in one day. But my family wants to decide early so that my child can stabilize his studies, so we chose the option of withdrawing the application and transferring schools," the parent shared.
Ms. Nga said that her child has studied at PennSchool for many years and the family is generally satisfied with the learning environment. However, in the current situation, the family prioritizes a stable and convenient learning plan for their child in the new school year.
Previously, on August 24, many parents with children studying at PennSchool facility on Ba Thang Hai street, Hoa Hung ward, were surprised when the school stopped operating on the same day as students went to school.
According to the announcement of the Board of Directors of PennSchool, on August 24, students came to school and participated in early year activities at the hall of the Ho Chi Minh City Academy of Public Administration and Management Branch on Ba Thang Hai Street.
However, when parents brought their children to school according to the schedule announced, they were surprised to see this facility stop operating.
At the school gate area, a banner appeared announcing the revocation of the Lao student dormitory of the Branch of the Academy of Public Administration and Management in Ho Chi Minh City - where PennSchool is using as a campus.
According to the banner content, the Lao student dormitory building will be revoked from July 1. The reason given is that the two sides have signed a contract termination record and the extension period for PennSchool to relocate to June 30 has ended.
PennSchool School System was established in 2020, with two campuses on Ba Thang Hai and Tran Binh Trong streets, deploying US program teaching in Ho Chi Minh City for students from pre-primary school to 12th grade.
