From mid-October 2024 to present, Thanh Xuan district authorities and many households in Thanh Xuan Trung ward have dismantled the construction to hand over the site for the project to renovate and expand Nguyen Tuan street, from Nguyen Trai intersection to alley 162 Nguyen Tuan.
According to Lao Dong on December 15, most of the constructions on Nguyen Tuan Street have been cleared. This area has been fenced off with corrugated iron by authorities to begin construction of the project.
Vice Chairman of Thanh Xuan District People's Committee Le Hong Thang said that one of the key tasks in 2024 of Thanh Xuan District and Thanh Xuan Trung Ward is to focus on implementing the project to renovate and expand Nguyen Tuan Street according to the planning.
Mr. Thang said that up to now, the site clearance and demolition work has been basically completed. For locations with cleared land, the contractor has prepared machinery and personnel to implement the project.
Nguyen Tuan Street is about 1.1 km long, intersecting with Nguyen Trai Street and Le Van Luong Street. Of which, about 480 m from Le Van Luong intersection to the beginning of alley 162 Nguyen Tuan has been expanded and renovated since 2003.
Particularly, from lane 162 Nguyen Tuan to Nguyen Trai intersection (cross-section 7-10 m) has not been expanded, creating a "bottleneck" causing frequent traffic jams during rush hour.
Many people hope that the Nguyen Tuan Street expansion project will be completed soon to help reduce traffic congestion and make travel more convenient.
Regarding the project progress, the leader of Thanh Xuan District People's Committee said that the district strives to complete the project by mid-2025 and put it into use to serve the travel needs of the people.
The project to renovate and expand Nguyen Tuan Street has a total investment of nearly 400 billion VND. To implement the project, Thanh Xuan District must reclaim 14,334 m2 of land related to 11 organizations and 160 households and individuals.
The project is 720 m long, starting at the intersection with Nguyen Trai Street, ending at alley 162 Nguyen Tuan, with a cross-section expanded to 21 m (twice the old road), including a 15 m wide roadbed and 2 sidewalks each 3 m wide.
After completion, Nguyen Tuan Street expansion is expected to help reduce traffic congestion in the area, beautify the urban area, and contribute to the socio-economic development of Hanoi in general and Thanh Xuan district in particular.
