On February 5, representatives of Project Management Board 7 (Ministry of Construction) - the investor of the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway project said that the ETC non-stop toll collection system on the route is being organized for trial run.
This is an important inspection step before expressway toll collection is officially implemented according to the plan of the Ministry of Construction.

According to the investor, the trial runs are aimed at comprehensively assessing the operating capacity of the ETC system, from equipment at toll lanes to management software, data transmission lines and coordination between relevant units.
This process helps detect technical errors early, and make timely adjustments to ensure safety and smooth operation when put into operation.

Previously, the preparation for toll collection on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway encountered some difficulties. Among them, noteworthy are the completion of equipment at toll lanes, synchronization of technology between service providers, as well as ensuring transmission signals and traffic organization in the station area.
To remove obstacles, Project Management Board 7 has coordinated with construction units, technology suppliers and operating units to focus on reviewing, adjusting, and supplementing missing items.
Technical inspection work is deployed simultaneously throughout the route to ensure that the ETC system fully meets the requirements of non-stop toll collection operation.

Up to now, according to the investor's assessment, most of the technical difficulties have been basically overcome. The trial run of the ETC system is being deployed throughout the route, focusing on stable operation, handling arising situations and ensuring safe and effective expressway toll collection.
However, a representative of Project Management Board 7 also said that a burning issue that needs to be thoroughly addressed is the situation of theft of materials and equipment of the ETC system on the route. Many sections of power cables have been cut off.
Although the construction unit has repaired and reinstalled, this situation still continues, affecting the trial run process and posing potential risks in the exploitation phase.
According to the plan of the Ministry of Construction, the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway, which is in the group of North - South expressway projects, will start expressway toll collection from the end of February 2026.
