On December 11, information from the Traffic Police Department (Traffic Police) of Nghe An Province said that the information of the car in Vinh City did not pass the red light to give way to the rear ambulance.
According to Nghe An Traffic Police Department, the Law on Road Traffic Safety in 2024 stipulates that people in traffic must comply with road signals and traffic rules.
Article 27 of this Law stipulates an ambulance on duty as a priority vehicle and has the right to go ahead of other vehicles.
Clause 5 of this Article also requires when there is a signal of a priority vehicle, traffic participants must slow down, close to the right side of the road or stop to give way.
In case of not giving way to priority vehicles, car operators may be fined from 6 - 8 million VND according to Point b, Clause 6, Article 6 of Decree 168/2024.
At the same time, according to the Law on Handling of Administrative Violations, in an urgent situation, if the means of transportation in the right lane, the right road and for plausible reasons will not be sanctioned.
Therefore, in case of stopping the red light but the back has an ambulance or other priority vehicles that signals to give way, the vehicles ahead may pass the red light to give way without being sanctioned.
For cases of cold sanctions via surveillance camera system, Nghe An Provincial Police does not immediately notify sanctions but will conduct verification and classification.
Earlier, on the morning of February 10, the social network spread the video clip recording a scene of an ambulance moving on Lenin Boulevard, heading from the city center. Vinh went to Vinh airport. When coming to the intersection between Lenin Boulevard and Pham Dinh Toai Street, ambulance constantly turned on the whistle and priority lights to give way.
However, because the traffic lights are red and the front has many vehicles, including a Fortuner black car, the ambulance cannot continue to move. Only when the signal lights transferred green, the Fortuner moved, the ambulance could continue.
The video after being shared has attracted mixed opinions from the online community. Some people think that black car drivers may worry about being punished for colds due to crossing the red light, so they do not give way to the ambulance.
