According to initial information, at about 4:30 pm on May 17, at Km118+700 National Highway 6, passing through Muong Bi commune, Phu Tho province, a rock from a positive taluy suddenly fell onto the road surface, hitting a motorbike in traffic.
The collision caused the motorbike driver to fall to the road and be injured in the leg. The vehicle was also damaged after the incident.
Immediately after receiving the information, functional forces and the road management unit were present to inspect the scene, support the victims and organize the clearance of soil and rocks scattered on the road surface to ensure traffic safety.
Representatives of the road management unit said that the positive taluy area on National Highway 6 poses a risk of landslides and rockfalls, especially after heavy rain or unusual weather.
Currently, the case is being further monitored. Relevant units are requested to strengthen inspections of points at risk of unsafety for timely handling.
People traveling through steep passes and high slopes on National Highway 6 are advised to pay attention to observation and reduce speed to prevent the risk of rock falling and landslides.
