Tan Long Roundabout is the connection point between National Highway 3, National Highway 1B, Duong Tu Minh Street and Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway. This is an intersection with high traffic density, thousands of vehicles passing through every day, causing local congestion. Especially during rush hour, vehicles have to squeeze through the narrow road.
Faced with the above situation, the project to build, supplement the safety system and install traffic lights at Tan Long intersection was implemented with the goal of reducing traffic congestion. The project is invested by the Road Management Department.
The project scale includes repairing, installing traffic lights, cutting median strips on National Highway 1B and Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway to widen the road surface.
At the 4 corners of the intersection, 14m high headlights are installed, each column is equipped with 5 sets of 200W LED headlights. During operation, based on the actual traffic volume at each time, the appropriate phase separation time will be set.
The total investment for renovating Tan Long roundabout and replacing some light bulbs at intersections on Hanoi - Thai Nguyen highway is more than 5 billion VND.
Recorded by PV on January 1, 2025, the main items of the project have been completed. The Tan Long round island has been leveled to help expand the surface. The system of signs and median strips has been installed. The entrances to the expressway and national highway have been widened to facilitate movement.
The renovation and expansion of Tan Long intersection helps vehicles circulate easily, without traffic jams.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Hoang (Son Cam commune, Thai Nguyen city) said: "Since upgrading and renovating Tan Long intersection, traffic has become easier, no more congestion during rush hours. Before, this place was a round island so the road surface was significantly narrowed.
At first, I was a bit confused because the traffic signs had just been installed and I had to stop at red lights, but I was very excited because it reduced traffic congestion. In the past, traveling here was very difficult and there was a risk of traffic accidents. With traffic flow and signs, traveling is much easier."
