Starting from the morning of May 15, the 2.5km section of Cong Hoa road (from Truong Chinh direction to Ut Tich intersection) officially applies a completely new traffic organization plan.
The highlight of this option is that the central lane will change traffic direction according to each time frame. The goal is to thoroughly relieve congestion pressure at the gateway area of Tan Son Nhat airport.
This is the first time Ho Chi Minh City has applied a flexible reversed lane division model on a large traffic axis. This helps the city maximize existing infrastructure without expanding the road surface.
Instead of fixedly dividing each side into 3 lanes as before, Cong Hoa street starts operating according to the "4/2" model in the morning and "2/4" in the afternoon.
Specifically, during the morning rush hour, functional forces will prioritize opening 4 lanes in the direction from Truong Chinh to Ut Tich. This priority channel helps to quickly drain the flow of vehicles into the central area.
Conversely, during afternoon rush hours, 4 lanes will be redirected from Ut Tich to Truong Chinh. Especially outside rush hours, two lanes in the middle of the road will organize two-way traffic as usual.
Representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction informed that in the immediate future, the relocation of the barrier will be carried out manually by labor. After a period of actual operation, functional agencies will evaluate the effectiveness to consider the possibility of applying automation technology.
Throughout the night, all railings, medians, along with the system of signs and LED guides on the dragon gate racks, have been completely installed by the construction force.
The Department of Construction especially reminds people when traveling through the Cong Hoa street area in the early stages to pay attention to the electronic board and slow down.
Absolutely comply with the orders of the traffic police force to ensure safety and avoid conflicts between traffic flows on the route.
