In order to reduce congestion at the Northwest gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, the flexible traffic organization plan on the Cong Hoa route (section from Truong Chinh to Ut Tich) has been tested by the Traffic Police force on the morning of May 14. This move took place one day earlier than the official application plan of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction.

This morning, the flow of vehicles heading towards the city center and Tan Son Nhat International Airport is prioritized for 4 lanes of traffic (including 2 lanes near the sidewalk and 2 lanes in the middle of the road). In the opposite direction, the road section towards Truong Chinh street is narrowed to 2 lanes.
This infrastructure adjustment immediately became effective during peak hours. Traffic along the 2.5km length passing through Bay Hien ward, Tan Binh ward and Tan Son Nhat ward maintained stable speed. The bottleneck of frequent vehicle congestion in the Hoang Hoa Tham overpass area has been cleared.

Localized records only show a slight congestion at the Cong Hoa - 18E intersection due to a large number of vehicles stopping to wait for traffic lights to turn into the airport. However, under the continuous regulation of functional forces at intersections, traffic flow was quickly cleared. Most people participating in traffic were surprised and acknowledged the effectiveness of this plan.
Currently, workers are urgently completing more than 100m of steel median strip and the last mobile fence near Ut Tich intersection to be ready for the official operation day on May 15.
