In recent times, traffic organization and regulation in Hanoi has been effective, contributing to reducing congestion, ensuring safety and improving traffic capacity. Solutions such as reasonable lane division, traffic light adjustment, violation control and initial infrastructure reorganization help traffic order change positively, especially in areas with frequent congestion.
Recorded at some routes and intersections that have just been adjusted such as Dinh Thon - Pham Hung, Vu Quynh - Me Tri, Nguyen Xien (lane 171), Minh Khai (Hoa Binh alley area), Chu Huy Man - Nguyen Lam, Co Linh - Thach Ban, Phan Trong Tue - Cau Buu, the congestion has clearly decreased, traffic safety has improved.
According to the Hanoi Department of Construction, the unit has banned trucks over 10 tons during peak hours in the morning and afternoon on some routes such as Phuc La, Phan Trong Tue - Cau Buu; at the same time, traffic flowing trucks in the direction of National Highway 1A - Provincial Road 427 - Southern Development Axis - Ring Road 3.5. However, there are still cases of some large trucks violating, entering during rush hour, causing traffic obstruction at certain times.
Along with that, the Hanoi Traffic Infrastructure Maintenance Board has adjusted the turning point at Pham Hung - Dinh Thon intersection, closed the old turning point and opened a new point about 200m away, thereby limiting traffic conflicts and ending the situation of going in the wrong direction. At the Vu Quynh - Me Tri button, opening more turning points also contributes to reducing traffic pressure.
A representative of the Department of Construction said that out of 12 intersections and road axes that have been invested in and adjusted, 9 projects have been completed and promoted effectively, the remaining 3 projects are expected to be completed before December 31, 2025. Through practical assessment, initial solutions meet the goal of reducing conflicts, increasing handling capacity and ensuring traffic safety.
People living around Phan Trong Tue route said that since limiting large trucks during rush hour, the route has become more airy, making travel more convenient and safer.
According to Master Vu Hoang Chung - a traffic expert, congestion in Hanoi comes from many reasons such as limited infrastructure, awareness of traffic participants and unreasonable organization. In that context, handling "bottlenecks" with specific technical solutions such as closing, opening the median strip, opening the right turn lane continuously, and dividing vehicles according to the time frame is showing clear efficiency. The seemingly small but true adjustments are contributing to the capital's traffic gradually becoming more open.
