On June 17, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Construction Do Viet Hai signed and issued Document No. 13178 on inspecting and handling the plaster peeling incident at Van Khe station on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong urban railway line (Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro).
According to the Hanoi Department of Construction, immediately after receiving the report from Hanoi Railway Company Limited (HMC) and information reflected by the press, the unit organized a field inspection and requested HMC to report the cause, developments and remedial plans.
Previously, on June 12, the Department worked directly with HMC to assess the current status of the project.
Regarding the incident of the completed plaster layer in the Van Khe station nameplate area peeling off and falling onto the road, the Department of Construction said that the initial cause was determined to be due to the reduced cohesion and adhesion ability of the plaster layer after the exploitation period, combined with vibration effects during operation.

To prevent the risk of similar incidents, the Department of Construction requests HMC to hire an independent consulting unit to inspect and comprehensively assess items with similar structures at all stations on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro line.
Based on the inspection results, the operating unit must develop a thorough handling plan to ensure the safety of the project and urban aesthetics. Damaged items at the scene must be repaired by July 2026.
The Department of Construction also proposed that the Hanoi People's Committee immediately allow the implementation of repairing items that are degraded or potentially unsafe on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro line and the elevated section of the Nhon - Hanoi station metro line.

At the same time, HMC is assigned to urgently complete the dossier to supplement the contents of repair and maintenance to the list of urban railway infrastructure maintenance projects in 2026 according to regulations.
According to the Hanoi Department of Construction, reviewing, inspecting and promptly handling degraded items is an urgent requirement to ensure the safe operation of the urban railway system, limiting the risk of affecting people and vehicles.
