It is forecasted that today and tomorrow (October 3 and 4), the number of people and vehicles from the provinces returning to Hanoi after the April 30 - May holiday will increase.
To ensure traffic order and safety, the Traffic Police Department (Hanoi City Police) has mobilized 100% of the force to be on duty, deployed working groups to direct traffic flow and guide traffic, and avoid congestion at gateways and central areas.
The Traffic Police force focuses on regulating key routes, such as: elevated Ring Road 3, Phap Van - Cau Gie and National Highway 1A, 5, 6, 32... along with major bus stations. At the same time, strengthen inspection and strictly handle violations such as speeding, carrying more people, and violating alcohol concentration.
In addition, the control of passenger transport activities has also been tightened. Traffic police will strictly handle cases of illegal buses, illegal stations, and stopping and picking up and dropping off passengers in violation of regulations.
People traveling from the southern provinces and cities to Hanoi, vehicles can follow the following routes: Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway to the city center; The old National Highway 1 through Phu Xuyen, Thuong Tin, Thanh Tri districts, Hoang Mai district to the Giai Phong - Ngoc Hoi intersection.
In case of congestion in the above areas at the same time, vehicles move from Van Diem intersection, Dai Xuyen intersection (Phu Xuyen district) to National Highway 6 (Nguyen Trai - Tran Phu - Quang Trung axis) - Ba La intersection, Road 21B - National Highway 38, or move on the left dike of the Red River to the center of Hanoi.
In the eastern provinces (Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Hai Duong), follow the directions of Hai Phong - Hanoi expressway, National Highway 5, National Highway 1A through Phu Dong bridge to Nguyen Van Linh and Co Linh streets...
According to a representative of Phap Van - Cau Gie BOT Joint Stock Company, it is forecasted that today (May 3) will enter the peak period when people from the southern provinces return to the capital after a long holiday.
The Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway is expected to welcome over 140,000 vehicles per day.
Previously, according to statistics, on April 29, the Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway served over 120,000 vehicles/day and night.
At the peak on April 30, the traffic volume on the expressway reached nearly 150,000 vehicles/day and night.
On May 2, the traffic volume on the route increased compared to normal days, but only equivalent to weekends, reaching about 110,000 - 115,000 vehicles.
The Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway is about 29 km long. Starting point at Km 182+300 (Phap Van intersection). The end point is at Km 211+256 (Dai Xuyen intersection).
Previously, on March 7, Phuong Thanh Traffic Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company sent a document to the Ministry of Construction proposing to expand the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway to a scale of 10 - 12 lanes under the PPP method.
This enterprise said that the current traffic volume on the Phap Van - Cau Gie route is very large. According to calculations from the data of toll collection, the average traffic volume of convertible cars in 2024 for both directions is about 85,000 cars/day and night. This traffic volume exceeds the design volume (about 55,400 vehicles/day and night).
Therefore, the expansion of the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway to a scale of 10 - 12 lanes is extremely necessary, in line with the road network planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
