On November 28, reporters reported that the expansion project of Thanh Xuan 25 Street (Thoi An Ward, District 12) is under urgent construction to soon pave phase 1. This is a vital route connecting Thoi An and Thanh Xuan wards, and is also the route leading to the 150-hectare Thanh Xuan Park project.

On the afternoon of December 28, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hung - Vice Chairman of Thoi An Ward People's Committee - said that the project to expand Thanh Xuan 25 Street will be implemented from June 2024. This project will be expanded to 30m, striving to pave phase 1 before Tet, helping to relieve the increasing traffic volume in this area.

In addition to the project to widen Thanh Xuan 25 Street to 30m, District 12 is also urgently dredging, solidifying the embankment, preventing flooding and building 4 roads along the canals. The total length of the 4 canals is more than 4.5km located in 3 wards of Thanh Loc, Thanh Xuan and Thoi An, with a total investment of 191 billion VND.

Mr. Tu Nguyen Duc Bang - Director of the Management Board of Traffic Construction Investment Projects in District 12 - said that the above 4 projects are being urgently constructed with items such as dredging, solidifying the banks of Tho Bot canal, Giao Khau canal, Ba Thon canal and reinforcing the embankments of Da Han canal and Mieu canal.

According to Mr. Bang, the canals are currently silted up with many weeds growing on both banks and inside the canals, obstructing the flow, leading to reduced drainage capacity. When it rains and high tides, large amounts of water need to be drained, which can easily lead to landslides, so they need to be renovated and completed soon to overcome flooding and landslides.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Chanh - Vice Chairman of District 12 People's Committee - said that the district has many canal systems that facilitate water drainage. However, the rapid urbanization in the district in recent times has caused these canals to become polluted and sandy soil to be deposited.

According to Mr. Chanh, the dredging and solidification of canals and ditches aims to improve environmental pollution and prevent flooding in residential areas in Thanh Loc, Thanh Xuan and Thoi An wards. Thereby, the projects also help to beautify the urban area, complete the traffic system, technical infrastructure and create urban beauty for the district during the Tet holiday, especially to celebrate the 50th anniversary of National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 7th District Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030.
