Early next November, mountain bike enthusiasts will have a tournament to compete in. That is the 2024 National Amateur Mountain Bike Championship - IRCtire Cup, organized by the Vietnam Bicycle - Motor Sports Federation.
The event was held in Hoa Binh city - a locality with a racing track that is considered to be the highest quality and most impressive in the Northern region.
Not only does it aim to spread the mountain bike training movement to sports lovers, it is also an opportunity to connect, exchange and share experiences with the community of enthusiasts of this sport.
The tournament will take place from November 9-10, 2024, with a total prize value of 200 million VND, including cash and useful gifts from sponsor IRC Tire and the tournament Organizing Committee.
Not only athletes register to participate as individuals, the IRCtire Cup also attracts the attention of many clubs. From the day the registration portal opened until now, the number of participating athletes has come very close to the maximum number of registrations - 350 people.
That shows the heat from IRCtire Cup as well as the mountain bike community nationwide. It can be seen that, although it is the first amateur tournament organized, IRCtire Cup is relatively large in scale and well prepared.
Regarding the track, designed on a high hill, there are many types of terrain such as wavy roads, flying mounds, steep hills and winding turns, creating difficulty and bringing certain challenges to the competing athletes.
Starting from Peace Square, the track has flat terrain to give athletes space to break away early. Then comes the uphill phase that challenges physical strength, endurance and good flexibility to conquer the rough, winding road.
Before the finish line, the off-road terrain with narrow roads and lots of dirt and rocks will be an opportunity for athletes with good mountain bike techniques.
Climbing and breaking away on a carefully prepared and challenging race track, these experiences will become memorable.
The IRCtire Cup course is divided into two distances for five groups of athletes. The junior men (30 years old and under) and senior men (31-45 years old) will compete for 30.83km. The senior men (46 years old and over), junior women (40 years old and under) and senior women (41 years old and over) will compete for 21.93km.
At this race, the organizers said they will closely coordinate with referees and athletes to ensure safety, fairness, and civilization, bringing the most positive competition environment to promote the development of the mountain bike training movement.
The registration period is expected to last until October 30, 2024. Athletes who want to register can register directly on the official website of the Vietnam Cycling and Motor Sports Federation, or send the registration list directly (for clubs) to the Federation's headquarters at 36 Tran Phu, Ba Dinh, Hanoi.
