As one of the people who came to apply for a card, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bay (over 60 years old, residing in Phu Thanh ward) said that she regularly uses the bus to visit her children and grandchildren, and go for medical examination and treatment, so she is very interested in applying for a card.

I find it very convenient because I don't have to prepare a photo of my ID card from home, coming here I can take photos right away. I just fill in the declaration, wait for data to enter, take photos and then receive an appointment slip. After about a week, I will have a card. Not spending a single penny, even taking photos is free," Ms. Bay shared.

According to her, the procedure consists of only a few simple steps, so older people can easily do it. "I will keep the card carefully and am very proud that Ho Chi Minh City is increasingly developing public transport," Ms. Bay said.

Also present to register during the day, Ms. Tran Thi Bao Chau (Binh Trung ward) said that she has been using the bus for about 4-5 years to go to the market, have breakfast and see a doctor.

I think having a separate card will be more convenient because I don't have to take out my citizen ID card many times, reducing the worry of losing papers. I take the bus from home to here to check in, from the time I enter until I receive the appointment paper, it's only about 10-15 minutes, the staff guides very enthusiastically. Using the bus also helps me save a considerable amount of money each month to save for illness," Ms. Chau shared.

According to Ms. Chau, in the past month, the Ho Chi Minh City public transport system has had many positive changes, becoming more modern, professional and attracting more and more people to use it. She assessed the implementation of the Public Transport Card as a convenient step forward, when a card can be used for authentication when traveling by bus and Metro, helping people to travel more easily.

The Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center said that from August 4, the city began to deploy registration and issuance of Public Transport Cards for 4 groups of subjects including people with meritorious services to the revolution, people with disabilities, elderly people from 60 years old and over and children under 6 years old.

People from the above groups can register for cards in 3 forms: register on the MultiGo application by declaring information, downloading portrait photos and proof papers according to instructions; register online at the website buyttphcm. com. vn through electronic forms; or register directly at the reception point of the Public Transport Management Center at Saigon Bus Station.

Public transport cards are used to authenticate policy beneficiaries on 134 bus routes under the ticket price support program and Metro Line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien). People with valid cards are supported 100% of the ticket price according to current regulations, on the routes currently being applied.

For students, Ho Chi Minh City will coordinate with the Department of Education and Training to develop a plan for implementation in the next phase. The Center also recommends that people eligible for card issuance actively register before using public transport services. In case they have not registered for a card, passengers can still use their citizen ID card, VNeID application or bank card as currently applied to take buses.
