Information from the Traffic Police Department - Nghe An Provincial Police said that the peak period of inspection and handling of violations took place from April 30 to May 4. The authorities recorded 1,527 cases, including 319 people violating alcohol concentration, 2 people testing positive for drugs, 237 people going on the wrong side of the road or running red lights, etc.
Of which, speeding violations account for a large proportion - mostly recorded thanks to a system of more than 600 traffic cameras operating continuously on national highways and the main inner-city axis. The image data is transmitted directly to the processing center, helping to quickly and accurately detect violating vehicles.
The authorities have handled 920 cases of traffic violations with a total fine of more than 1.1 billion VND.
Notably, although the number of vehicles increased during the holidays, there was no serious congestion in the province. Traffic accidents also decreased compared to the same period last year both in terms of the number of cases, deaths and injuries.
The fact that hundreds of drivers still violate alcohol concentration shows that awareness of complying with traffic laws is still limited. This is an issue that needs to continue to be tightened by taking parallel measures: increasing penalties and promoting propaganda to change behavior.
